Sorbitan Mono Palmitate

A mixture of the partial esters of sorbitol and its mono- and dianhydrides with edible commercial palmitic acid. SMP is a nonionic, mid-range HLB surfactant suggested for use as a w/o or an o/w emulsifier. It is slightly soluble in isopropanol, xylene and liquid paraffin, insoluble in water, and non-toxic.
